The Straz Center is currently recruiting for a Financial Manager. Consistently ranked among the five largest performing arts complexes in the U.S., the Straz Center is located in downtown Tampa. The Straz Center features one of the nation’s leading Broadway series and is regarded nationally for producing grand opera, as well as, presenting a wide variety of concerts, performances, and events. In addition, we provide high quality, diverse
arts education through its school for the performing arts, the Patel Conservatory.

Reporting to the Controller, this position is responsible for financial management, analysis, and modeling in support of the Conservatory’s responsibilities for reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The Financial Manager prepares reports and analyzes data to support management with strategic and operating decisions as these pertain to the Conservatory.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tracking and analyzing financial and operating data utilizing applications software
  • Variance analysis
  • Providing recommendations to management
  • Active hands-on business
  • Partnering with Conservatory management structure
  • Integrally involved in Finance department processes, including related audits
  • Maintaining appropriate schedules for tracking and releasing deferred revenue streams from the Conservatory
  • Conducting payroll analytics for Conservatory employees, and troubleshooting payroll-related problems


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • At least three to five years in related function preferably in an academic environment
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal and organizational skills
  • Proactive individual comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under time constraints
  • Creative and analytical thinker with financial modeling experience
  • PC skills:
    • Proficiency in Excel mandatory
    • Experience in Blackbaud and Tessitura preferred
